Ok, so I've mentioned before that I work at Monicals.. & this thing happens to be shirts we're lucky enough to wear on Fridays & Saturdays.. Personally, I think it's insanely ugly. Well, I guess the design isn't really THAT bad. But seriously? The shirts we wear are purple, the managers wear green. So I understand that being incorporated into the design, but WHY on red shirts?! I don't understand the gold so much either. I think it would look way better on a different colored shirt, but maybe that's just me.. What do you guys think? Is it just me?

Since Paul Rand is the designer I'm studying for project 2, I've really come to like his designs more & more. They're simple, but fun. Lots of symbolism, geometric shapes, brighter colors.. There's a lot of designs on his personal website () & there's even more that aren't included in the 'posters' category.. I suggest everybody checks it out! (:

I'm sure that everybody knows who The Beatles are. They had a really big impact on the music world, but I've gotta admit.. They had some pretty messed up songs. I'd say their album covers speak for themselves though, so here are some.. & there's more at this site: http://www.boskowan.com/www/jirka/beatles/covers.htm

I found this website that's a Canadian 'webzine' for graphic design called Egodesign (http://www.egodesign.ca/en/article.php?article_id=98&page=1), & i found this article about the "broken course of graphic design".. The museum of Decorative Arts had an exhibit to show international posters.. These posters are supposed to show the broken course of the history of advertising/graphic arts, which developed in a many different ways based on time & country. I think it's pretty interesting. The article says there is "a selection of 200 posters dating from the 19th century and Art Nouveau period up until the present day". Of course, this article was from 2007, but still! I find that amazing. Some of the artists featured were Gustav Klimt, Beggarstaffs Brothers, Peter Behrens, Henry Van de Velde, the Push Pin Studio, USA and Polish School.

http://www.hort.org.uk/ is an amazing site, and everybody should seriously check it out. The homepage shows many different companies that HORT has done designs for, and once you click on that project, it shows different pictures showing how the designs were used. For example, I chose one for Nike Europe.. The design just caught my eye, & after clicking on the picture I found out that they used it for a celebrity gift at the MTV Europe Awards. you found this design on the inside of the showbox, and they also used the design to display on the walls of the waiting lounge & in some of their stores. It's pretty neat stuff. Check it out. (:

While I was reading around about the Psychedelic movement, I came across this page: http://psd.tutsplus.com/designing-tutorials/create-a-60s-psychedelic-style-concert-poster/ .. It's a tutorial that shows you how you can make your own Psychedelic style concert poster, just like the one shown here. They give about 11 steps to follow to make the poster, and it looks like it could be pretty simple.. I'm really considering making my own. I think it could be kinda cool. Anyway, I just thought you might enjoy that.. If you decide to make one let me know! (:
